IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael L
Marlowe
August 12, 1943 – June 27, 2023
After a life dedicated to family and service, Michael Lee Marlowe, 79, passed peacefully at home with family by his side on June 27, 2023, in Melbourne, Florida. He leaves behind his devoted wife Yvonne, and their family of seven children: Brett, Andrew, Rain, Carmen, Michelle, Tara and Daniel, plus many grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Nancy and Linda. A native Floridian born in Jacksonville, Michael earned the honor of being an Eagle Scout. Michael moved to Winter Park to attend Rollins College. He remained involved with Rollins and the TKE fraternity of which he was a member long after he graduated. After earning his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida, he moved back to Winter Park where he embarked on a 50-year career as an attorney from which he retired just recently. Michael was an active member of the Orange County Bar Association, as well as the Florida Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Over the course of his career, he served not only his clients with distinction and professionalism, but he also served the local community. Michael was passionate about his dedication to community service. In his lifelong effort to make the world a better place, he volunteered his time to numerous organizations. He also served more than a decade on the Mayflower Retirement Center Board of Directors, and was on the Board of Trustees for the Maitland Art Center. He volunteered as a Board Member of AdventHealth Smiles, which would dispatch a team of doctors and aides to disadvantaged rural communities in Mexico to provide medical care including surgical correction of cleft palates in children. He served on the advisory board of the Heart of Florida United Way (Winter Park) and was past President of the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce. One of his favorite organizations was the Rotary Club of Winter Park, having served as President and also as Chairman of the Winter Park Charitable Foundation, Inc. Through the Rotary Foundation, he was able to touch many lives worldwide, for decades. He truly lived by the Rotary Foundation mission, "Service above self." So many people will miss him and remember him.
His dedication and service to his profession and his community was eclipsed only by his love and dedication to his family. He cherished his two sons, Brett and Andrew. He was a proud soccer dad. He met Yvonne at St. Margaret Mary Church in Winter Park after mass one morning. Though they had a blended family, he embraced Yvonne's children as his own. They were married for 25 years. Together they enjoyed their family and travelled the world.
He loved classical music and opera. He was a rabid Gators fan. Michael enjoyed life on the water, whether it was swimming, boating, or just enjoying the views.
Michael's celebration of life service will be on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Visitation begins at 10:30 a.m. and Mass at 11:00 a.m. He will be interred in the memorial garden.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the charity of your choice in his honor.
