Mary Lynn Ballard Zwinggi of West Melbourne, age 85, passed away peacefully at William Chiles Hospice Center on March 04, 2015.
Mary Lynn was born July 25, 1929 to Worthy Howard and Louise Oakes Gwinn in Charleston, WV. She was predeceased in death by her parents Worthy and Louise, stepfather Harry Blackwell of Charleston, WV, husband of 24 years Harold Ballard of Danville, WV, and husband of 30 years Bill Zwinggi of Sarasota, FL.
The family moved from Charleston, WV to West Melbourne, FL in 1959. Mary Lynn became active in the local Garden and Womens' Clubs in the area, along with her church choir at Presbyterian Church of the Good Shepherd (joined 1963) in Melbourne, FL.
In 1971 Mary Lynn moved to Sarasota, FL where she worked for GTE/Verizon Phone Company, sang in the choir at Presbyterian Church of Sarasota, and married the man that she dearly loved for the next thirty years, Bill Zwinggi.
In 1989 Mary Lynn retired and moved to W. Melbourne where she returned to be active in her church choir and The Cherry Tart Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed photography, writing, painting, needlework, flower arranging and water aerobics.
Mary Lynn is survived by her two children, son Robert Howard Ballard and wife Cheryl of Denver, CO and daughter Kathleen Ballard Dabney and husband Bob of W. Melbourne, FL; She was G-ma (Grandma) to six: Robby Shank (Marla), Lorrie Tevebaugh (Jim), Christy and Shawn Ballard, Bert Dabney (Esther) and Kristi Ormesher (John); GG-Ma (Great Grandma) to nine; GGG-Ma (Great Great Grandma) to four.
Memorial Service will be held March, 12, 2015 time: 5:30pm at Presbyterian Church of the Good Shepherd, 810 W Florida Ave, Melbourne, FL 32901. Red Hatters, please wear your hats at Mary Lynn's request.
In lieu of flowers and Mary Lynn's love of singing, a member of the choir since 1963, donations may be made to Presbyterian Church of the Good Shepherd (COGS).
