Mary Ann Peters' Obituary
Mary Ann Peters, 81, of Merritt Island Florida, passed away on 3 June, with her devoted husband Ken by her side.
Mary was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and was the daughter of the late Helen and Grandjean Grant Jewett. She was predeceased by her two sisters, (Betty and Donny) and her brother (Bud). She graduated from Rumson High School in Rumson, NJ and then attended Douglas College where she graduated with a degree in Education in 1956.
Her husband Ken was her lifelong sweetheart. They were married in Rumson, NJ on 1 April 1956 and had recently celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Mary was a person who loved to learn and applied her interests and abilities to several careers. Home economics teacher, bank manager, and financial secretary were just a few of the careers she enjoyed. She was an exceptionally talented seamstress. After retiring, she was a steadfast volunteer at the Florida Wildlife Hospital and Sanctuary. In the community she was an avid member of both the Banana River Sail and Power Squadron and the BetterInvesting Space Coast Chapter.
She and Ken loved to travel and were enthusiastic sailors, pilots, and campers. She and Ken "motor homed" through much of the United States, cruised and sailed through the Caribbean and also greatly enjoyed their travels through Alaska and Europe. However, one of her greatest joys was spending time or traveling with her three grandsons. She loved family gatherings from informal backyard barbecues on the river to big holiday celebrations and always announced that everything was "Wonderful".
Mary is survived by her husband Ken; sons Norman, his wife Kathy of Melbourne, FL; Daniel, his wife Jill of Jupiter, FL; and Jeffrey of Jupiter, FL. Her three grandsons Brett, Connor and Chad will miss the sweet smile and loving personality of their Grandma. Mary also leaves behind countless friends who will miss her positive and upbeat attitude toward any challenge.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held later this summer.
