Obituary

Mary (Del Grosso) McGeath 80 of Melbourne, Fl passed away on July 6, 2023 with her husband by her side. She was born to the late Patsy Del Grosso and Catherine Del Grosso Brown on September 26, 1942 in Norwich, Ct. Mary graduated from New London High School in 1960. She married David McGeath,Sr. on November 20, 1993.

Mary worked for Attorney Melvin Scott in Connecticut. and received The Secretary of the year award in Connecticut. She also lived in Chicago, San Diego, Hawaii, and Pensacola working for various Attorneys along the way.

Mary also worked for various Attorneys in Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Chesapeake areas. Mary received the Legal Secretary of the Year Award in 1992 from the Chesapeake Legal Secretaries Association.  Mary was a longtime member of the Virginia Association of Legal Staff (VALS) and a lifetime member of the Virginia Beach Legal Staff Association (VBLSA).

Through the entire time, Mary belonged to The Red Hats Society and was an Avid Bowler, she loved to Read and travel the USA with David. Mary loved boating and taking boat trips with George Brazil and all the members of the "No Name Boat Club" on weekends and holidays.

Later Mary worked for Virginia Beach City Public Schools Juvenile Detention Center, retiring after 10 years of service.

Mary retired in 2010 and moved to Florida to be close to her longtime friend Cathy Daukshus and enjoy retirement with her friend.

During her retirement, Mary enjoyed doing jazzercise at the Wickham Park senior center, playing bunco with her many friends and attending Red Hats functions and lunches.

Mary was the Treasurer for the Bayhill HOA for over 10 years which she enjoyed doing as well as working with the residents of Bayhill.

Mary enjoyed going to Karaoke at many different places in the Melbourne area with her good friends Josie Como, Linda Amato, Phyllis DeBord and many others. Some of her favorite songs were The Great Pretender and I Have A Dream.

Mary Loved cruising with David and her friends and traveling the states visiting light houses, one of her favorite things to do. Mary was an avid collector of lighthouses.

Mary always looked forward to trips to Virginia Beach and Chesapeake to visit old friends and take rides around town in George Brazil Model T and other old cars.

Mary will be sorely missed by her beloved dog Bella and long time friends Cynthia Serluca and Chickie Venditto, her sister Patty (Warren) Strutt, and her niece, Holly Strutt; stepchildren, Martin McGeath, David McGeath Jr, and Carrie McGeath Garcia. Mary was predeceased by her beloved daughter Dawn Marie Devins Camp (2009) and her brother Anthony T. Del Grosso (2009).

A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held at 11:00 AM on July 25, 2023 at Davis Seawards Funeral Home in Melbourne, Fl. Mary will be laid to rest in the family plot at Jordan Cemetery in Waterford, Connecticut.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to St. Judes or SPCA.
