Mary E.Gilchrist, of Eau Gallie, FL. passed peacefully on August 24, 2021 at 6:30am at the age
of 88.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Thomas C. Gilchrist in 2003 and her Daughter,
Margorie Ellen Gilchrist in 1995.
Mary is survived by her 3 children, Thomas II, David, and her Daughter in Law, Patti; 6
grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and her extended family (Gary, Denise, Kate, Nicki)
Mary was from Saint Albans, West Virginia and moved to Melbourne, FL. in 1961. She attended
Charleston General Hospital School of Nursing to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse. Mary
was a Registered Nurse at Holmes Regional Medical Center from 1966 until retirement in 1999.
She exemplified the Nightingale Pledge taken by all nurses when pinned. Mary was an active
member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, serving in the Women's Circle and helping
wherever needed . She enjoyed an active social life with her friends, church family, fellow
nurses and the Red Hat Society. She will be dearly remembered as a devoted wife, loving
mother, doting Grammy, and true friend.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 1 from 1pm to 2pm at Emmanuel United
Methodist Church, 2800 W Eau Gallie Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32935, with a funeral service to
begin at 2pm. Interment will be at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL
32955 after the service.
