IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Meed
Baker
July 23, 1939 – August 11, 2020
Mary Baker, age 81, passed peacefully while surrounded by her loving family, on August 11, 2020. She was born on July 23, 1939, in Pikeville, Kentucky, to Junior and Bertha Bevins. After relocating to Melbourne, Mary met and married the love of her life, Bill Baker. They recently celebrated 45 years of marriage. Mary lived a wonderful life filled with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and Bill spent their golden years traveling the states in their motorhome; and making life-long friends along the way. Over the years they visited many state parks and capitals, including three adventurous trips to Alaska. Their travels also took them to family and friends in Colorado, Mississippi, Alabama and West Virginia. Mary was often described as the perfect hostess; her guests always felt welcome in her home, and some came from as far away as Australia. She had a flair for baking and loved spending time in the kitchen, where her family and friends gathered often.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Junior and Bertha Bevins, brother Curtis Bevins, and sister, Alis Seaman. She is survived by her husband Bill, her son Rick (Vicki), and her daughter, Wadalea Stevenson (Brice), brothers Jim Bevins (Jean), and Larry Bevins (Christine). Mary was known as Nana to her grandchildren Rickett Baker (Elise), and Megan Smith (Kevin), and great-grandchildren, Jude and Haddie Smith. Mary leaves behind extended family, friends and neighbors, she cared deeply for so many.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to those who called, texted, visited or provided a meal.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of St. Francis who provided excellent care for Mary.
A memorial service will be held later. Anyone wishing to send the family a message or share a story is asked to visit Mary's memorial page at www.davisseawinds.com.
