Marcheita Nelson Hand, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2013. Marcheita was born May 26, 1926 in Dothan, AL, to Charles and Blanche Nelson.

Prior to her retirement, she owned and operated her own hair salon in Margate, FL. In 2000, Marcheita and her husband Lee Roy, moved to Brevard County to be near their only son and daughter-in-law. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a member of First Baptist Church of Malabar.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Lee Roy Hand in 2001; and a son, Larry Hand in 1987. She leaves memories to be cherished by her son, Brian (Cynthia) Hand of Malabar; brother, Mickey Nelson of KY; cousin, Mary Burkhardt of NV, five grandchildren, Shawn, Brandy, Miranda, Henry and Dylan; and six great-grandchildren, Haley, Sierra, Tyler, Seth, Lacy and Brianna.

Family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home, Melbourne, FL, following with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to First Baptist Church of Malabar.
