Obituary

MELBOURNE BEACH - Malcolm Wilcox, who had turned 89 in February, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, June 24, after an extended illness with congestive heart failure.

Malcolm was an extraordinary man. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he was raised and educated both in upstate NY and Bergen County, NJ. As a young man, Malcolm proudly served in the Korean War as a "Remington Raider;"  upon his return, he married Carol (Thyssen) and they began their 65 years of marriage as he joined Thyssen Auto Parts in Union City, NY. They raised their family in Teaneck and Franklin Lakes, NJ. Through those years in New Jersey, he loved playing tennis and softball at the Indian Trail Club, spending time at the shore (LBI), and traveling with the NJ Jobbers.

After retirement, Malcolm and Carol happily settled in their new home - Melbourne Beach, FL where they have lived for the past 30 years. Malcolm enjoyed a full life-and in his retirement, he helped sell and care for houses, continued to play tennis and golf, and volunteered for the Sebastian Inlet Museum and Aging Matters where he helped to deliver Meals on Wheels.

Malcolm was a true and loyal friend and family man. He was a wonderful father to his daughter, Laura (Wilcox) Rokoszak, and his son, Ray Wilcox; a welcoming father-in-law to John Rokoszak and Angela Noble, and an incredibly proud grandpa to Ani and Carolyn (Rokoszak) Pira, Andrew and Katie (Brennan) Rokoszak.

While his family and friends will miss him terribly, his memory will live on in his elaborate stories, his carefully crafted cocktails, his love of big band music and parties, countless family photographs dating back to the early 1900's, and the maps he loved to draw for travelers!!

Although there are no plans for services at this time, the family will celebrate Malcolm in New Jersey later this summer, and back in Florida in the fall. The family wishes to extend their grateful thanks to Health First Hospice for their exceptional care, and the neighbors of Indian Landing who have been so kind and thoughtful. Friends can leave condolences online at SeaWinds and in lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to Aging Matters of Brevard ( https://agingmattersbrevard.org/ )
