Lynne Manion Nungesser, 63, of Melbourne passed away at her home, The Fountains of Melbourne on May 12, 2019 after a 3-year battle with lung cancer. She was born June 28, 1955 in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

Lynne, who moved to Florida at the age of 16, accomplished 40 years of service with the Palm Bay Police Department. She spent 32 years as a sworn law enforcement officer rising through the ranks to Deputy Chief before she retired in 2012. She was an inspirational leader, role model, and more importantly a forever friend to those who knew her. She was best known for her courageous smile and voice of reason.

She enjoyed watching her children grow into the successful men they are today. She provided many years of being their number one fans on the baseball field and in the classroom.

Lynne spent the years since retiring from the Palm Bay Police Department traveling with friends and family and most importantly spending time with her three sons and three grandchildren.

Lynne spent the last year of her life at the Fountains of Melbourne where she adored the many nurses and staff members who provided her excellent patient care. The staff members spent so much time in her room discussing life that they looked to her more as a family member than a patient.

Lynne is preceded in death by her mother Lois Manion, father Richard Manion and beloved step-mother Billie Jean Manion.

Lynne is survived by her three sons Danny Nungesser (Amy), Tim Nungesser (Natalie), and Philip Nungesser (Rachelle). Her grandchildren include Tatum, Teagan and Houston Nungesser. She will be missed by sisters Lori Arnold (Ken) and Lee Henry (Scott) as well as brothers Richard A. Manion Jr. (Rose), Robert Manion and Russ Manion along with many nieces, nephews and extended family that all loved her dearly.

Lynne may be gone but never forgotten because of the legacy that she has left through her children, grandchildren, and the many lives that she has touched over the years.

Services will be held May 17, 2019 at 1:00PM at Calvary Chapel Melbourne, 2955 Minton Rd, West Melbourne FL 32904. Reception to follow at Fred Poppe Park in Palm Bay. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to be made in her honor to the Fountains of Melbourne Associate Appreciation Fund.
