Obituary

Lynn+e Ann Helsel (née Martin) passed away on July 10, 2024, at the age of 73, in Melbourne, Florida. Born on September 2, 1950, in St Elmo, Illinois. Lynne went to Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, FL and Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, AK. She also attended the University of Alaska and Eastern State University in Illinois.

Lynne started her career with the State of Alaska. She also worked as a graphic artist, then editor for Yellowbook Incorporated. Her last job was as the city clerk for the City of St Elmo, Illinois. She was a charter member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Melbourne, FL and had been a member of First United Methodist Church of St Elmo, IL.

Lynne loved doing crafts: sequenced Christmas ornaments, ceramics, jewelry, and sewing with her embroidery machine. Lynne loved to cook and bake, but most of all, she loved music. Her high school teacher at Eau Gallie High, Mr. Thomas Sylvester, taught her to sing and her soprano voice soared.

She is survived by her son; Patrick Bookey, Jr, (wife Brandy, son Dawson); sister, Robyn Martin; niece, Rachel Martin, and Aunt, Kay McClintock. She was preceded by her husband, Robert Helsel; Father, James E. Martin; Mother, Mary Ann Martin; Brother, Rick P. Martin; Grandparents: John G. Martin and Cordie Louise Martin; Leman K. Philbrook and Mabel R. Philbrook; Uncles, Jack Martin and Harry McClintock and Aunt, Wanda Martin.
