Lionel S. Francis passed away peacefully on October 28, 2014 at William Child's Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida. Lionel was born and raised in Santurce, Puerto Rico and immigrated to Brooklyn, New York, where he lived for over 60 years until he moved to Melbourne earlier this year. Lionel worked at Hertz Corporation as a mechanic and loved watching his favorite baseball team - The New York Mets - and his favorite basketball team - The New York Knicks on TV. He also loved to draw pictures of his family. Lionel was the loving and very proud father of his 3 sons, Victor of Lyndhurst, New Jersey, Jose of Chesapeake, Virginia and Alfred of Melbourne, Florida. Lionel is also survived by his sister Belen, his loving wife of 58 years, Iluminada, his 4 grandchildren - Antonio, Ashley, Giselle, and Melissa and several other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home, Melbourne, Florida on Friday, October 31, 2014 from 5pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Palm Bay, Florida with visitation from 10am to 11am. Lionel will be laid to rest at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Florida.
