IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda O
Eliason
July 22, 1947 – November 16, 2020
Linda Osmond Eliason, 73, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, November 16, 2020. She was born in Riverside, New Jersey, to G. Alan and Violet Osmond.
Linda is survived by her two siblings, Lois Denning and Skip (Ginny) Osmond; two children, Megan (Liz) Hayes-Golding and Lehr (Nicole) Eliason; six grandchildren, Rachel, Eli, Maddux, Ryleigh, Ruby, and Olivia; and god child Stefanie (Chris) Childs, who was certainly her favorite child. Numerous longtime friends and family around Philadelphia, Nashville, and Melbourne mourn her loss.
After her family, many will remember Linda's love of three things: the beach, her Philly roots, and teaching 2nd grade.
Every June and July, you'd find Linda sitting in a low beach chair right at the edge of the surf at Picnic Tables Beach on the north end of Patrick Air Force Base. She also continued to visit Ocean City, NJ via an annual summer trip with college roommates through the 2000s. Her children know little of these trips except for stories of playing pinochle all night, photos from the summer they turned 60 and did some painting, and the handful of beach passes they found in a drawer.
Linda was born and raised around Philadelphia. Place names that are foreign to her children's ears caused her to light up at their mention -- Shippensburg, Delanco, Palmyra, Cinnaminson, and Springfield are but a few. Though she moved away from the region after college, Linda carried it with her, raising her kids on the Phillies and Eagles, hoagies, Ben Franklin, cheesesteaks, Ocean City, and Italian wooder ice. Linda certainly played a part in helping the Phillies win the World Series in 2008 and the Eagles win the Super Bowl in 2018.
When she retired in 2011, Linda had logged 28 years with Brevard County Schools, nearly all of it at Sherwood Elementary in Melbourne. Two generations of North Melbourne families called Mrs. E their favorite teacher. Her hard work marshalling students and parents led to absolute dominance in the Melbourne Christmas Lights Parade through the late 90s. Linda also produced dozens of school pageants complete with Lincoln hats and Washington wigs. She was especially fond of Johnny Appleseed.
Linda, Mom, Oz -- we love you and always will. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Sherwood Elementary Parent Teacher Organization: Sherwood PTO 2542 Post Rd Melbourne, Florida 32935 or Venmo @MeganHayesGolding and she'll make a consolidated donation.
Linda ended most phone calls with "well, that's all I have to say…" but we have more to say, so please join us in celebrating her life via web conference on a date to be announced later. RSVP by email to mgolding@gmail.com .
