Obituary

Linda Marie (Goodridge) Doody passed peacefully during the early morning of May 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband, son, and daughter-in-law. Linda was born on September 18, 1950, to Lester R. and Virginia E (Inman) Goodridge. She grew up in Pittsfield, ME with her 3 oldest siblings, surrounded by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. At the age of 15, she was blessed with her "little sister", Tracy.

After graduating from Maine Central Institute in 1968, she attended the University of Maine in Farmington and took a hiatus to focus on her young family while working as a teacher's aide at the Palmyra Consolidated School. She later graduated with her degree in education and continued in her teaching career path as a full-fledged teacher in the Madison, ME school system. She loved teaching and loved "her kids". She remained in touch with many of them even after retirement from teaching. She cherished her friendships with the other teachers and could often be found at The Oasis with them after school.

Linda and her husband, Michael, lived in love for nearly 54 years. After living briefly in Pittsfield and Newport, they eventually settled in Madison, ME and raised their son, Jason. Those years were spent attending Jason's many Little League and school team events, and sprinkled with family trips to Florida, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, and Washington, D.C. Linda was famous amongst Jason's friends and her students for her chocolate chip cookies, and she hosted many holidays, summer cookouts, and Saturday baked bean suppers for her extended family and friends.

After retirement for both Linda and Mike, they moved to Melbourne, FL and eventually began second careers as realtors, working for a builder in the area. As their son began his family, that began many trips to visit his family in Cleveland, OH and Coventry, CT. Her grandson, Michael, was born in 1999, bringing many, many more trips to watch him grow, play baseball, attend Grandparents Day at Avon Old Farms where Michael attended school, attend his graduation, and then to watch him play college baseball at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., often via live streaming on the lanai from their home in Melbourne. Linda and Mike took many trips together including Tennessee, Colorado, Utah, San Francisco, Gettysburg, and many trips back home to Maine.

Linda is survived by her husband, Michael O. Doody, their son and his wife, Jason and Leslie Doody, and their son, Michael G. Doody. She is also survived by her siblings, Larry and Sally Goodridge, Darrell Goodridge, and Tracy Goodridge and her wife, Kelly Cookson, as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law and their families from the Doody family. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. She was predeceased by her parents, and brother, Dennis Goodridge. She will be deeply missed by a wide circle of friends she connected with on her journey.
