Kimberly Dawn Major, 63, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

Born on August 3, 1962, in Detroit, Michigan, Kimberly was the beloved daughter of the late John and Kathleen Major. After completing high school and attending college courses, she proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where she served her country with honor for 24 years. She retired with the distinguished rank of Master Sergeant.

Kimberly's military service took her across the globe, with notable assignments including the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and Patrick Air Force Base (now Patrick Space Force Base) in Florida. Following her retirement from the Air Force, she continued her dedication to national defense by accepting an administrative position with Raytheon, working once again at Patrick AFB.

A lifelong enthusiast of astronomy, Kimberly had a special fondness for lunar events. She cherished stargazing and often reflected on time spent using the telescope she had shared with her father.

Kimberly is survived by her loving daughter, Danielle Major of Melbourne; her sisters, Lisa (John) Wiggins of Sunrise, Arizona, and Laura (Joe) Ferentine of Lavonia, Michigan; and her brother, Larry Major of Gladwyn, Michigan.

A memorial service celebrating her life will take place 7:30 PM, Friday, September 19, 2025 at Paradise Beach in Melbourne, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
