IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth
Medei
March 10, 1960 – May 7, 2025
Kenneth Medei, beloved husband of Shelly Garrow, passed away on May 7th, 2025 at the age of 65 following a long battle with cancer.
Ken was born in Burnt Hills, NY, and was predeceased by his parents, John and Carmasina Medei.
Ken graduated from S.U.N.Y. Plattsburgh with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science.
Ken began his post college career working for a US Senator in Washington, D.C. When his tenure in D.C. ended, he shifted into advertising in New York City. His love for cooking lead him to take courses at the Culinary Institute of America. Upon completion, he created his own pasta sauce line. Once the sauce company was established and thriving, Ken sold it to a National Brand Company. He then began a consulting business rebranding food industry products, working with several companies. From here, he transitioned to a Gourmet Food Broker, working to gift pack various products. Ken's creativity and culinary talent beckoned him back to creating a unique wine based seasoning/spice/rub line, birthing "Wine It Foods" Company. Following the success of Wine It Foods, Ken was in the process of creating another sauce line, until his untimely passing.
Ken's love for music, distinct voice, and incredible stage presence opened the opportunity for him to sing with the Jerry Z and Company Band, playing at local venues. His favorite pastime was cooking, creating recipes, enjoying good wine and entertaining. He was known as "Kenny the Entertainer". He loved his beautiful wife, Shelly; creating memorable meals for friends and family. He also had a special place in his heart for their Irish Wolfhounds, Mastiffs and cats. A great storyteller and joker, Ken had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel welcome and at ease.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Shelly; his brother, Alan Medei of Palm Bay; his sister-in-law, Melissa Valley, her husband Ed and their children, Thomas & Gabi; several aunts & uncles, including Carl Medei, Sue Medei, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
