Melbourne, Florida
Kathleen Emma Cullinan, Nee O'Donoghue, 75, departed this life January 3, 2014, at her home surrounded by her adoring family.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am on January 7th at Ascension Catholic Church; 2950 N. Harbor City Boulevard, Melbourne, FL. Interment will take place at a later date in Melbourne Cemetery.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Bridget (O'Brien) O'Donoghue and a grandson, Ian Cullinan.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Cullinan; her brother Vincent O'Donoghue of New Jersey; her twin sister Helen Celentano of New York; six children Maureen (Cianchette), Kevin, John, Helen (King), Maggie (Slyter) and Mike; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Kathleen was born in New York City to Vincent and Bridget O'Donoghue on July 13, 1938. In 1965, she moved with her husband and 3 small children to Melbourne Florida where she resided until her passing. She worked as a homemaker and an office manager and was an active member of the Lady's Ancient Order of Hibernians (LAOH) serving as the past Division President and State Vice President.
She was a voracious reader of books. She loved to laugh. She enjoyed a good pot of tea and giving the occasional unusual gift just to make you think. Above all, she loved the company of her family and friends. She was undoubtedly the world's most caring and attentive listener.
She was the best wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend life could have given us.
Her presence is painfully missed.
She will forever be in our hearts and thoughts.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nursing staff of the Holmes Regional Medical Center ICU for their care and support in her final days.
