IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathleen Lois
Bigwarfe

Kathleen Lois Bigwarfe
July 8, 1933 – October 10, 2025
Kathleen Lois Bigwarfe passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, in Palm Bay, Florida.
Born Kathleen Lois Jackson on July 8, 1933, to Clifford and Josephine Jackson (née Williams), Lois was one of five sisters raised on a farm near the Raquette River and the airport in Massena, New York. With her striking red hair—so admired that the nurses carried her around to show her off as a newborn—she quickly became a memorable presence in every room.
As a child, she loved walking to the airport to watch planes and even tried to score the occasional free ride. After graduating high school, she proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force. Later, while working at Alcoa, she met and married Kenneth Bigwarfe in 1955.
In 1999, Lois made Florida her home. She is survived by her three daughters Sandy (Jim) Waters of Branchport, New York, Donna (Tom) Rushing of Melbourne, Florida and Dana Wakefield of Potsdam, New York, four granddaughters, and great-grandchildren. Lois is also survived by a sister Barbara Ritter. She was predeceased by her beloved fur babies Missy, Satch, and Lady.
She was given the nickname "Loey" by her father and was endearingly known to her many nieces and nephews as "Aunt Red". Lois lived with a fiery spirit that matched her red hair. She loved the Lord, cherished animals, and found deep joy in the wonders of nature. Her strong constitution and quirky sense of humor served her well life-long.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Anchor Care Nursing Home of Palm Bay for their compassionate care and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brevard County Animal Shelter, 5100 West Eau Gallie Boulevard, Melbourne, FL 32934.
A graveside service with military honors and Pastor Nathan Lamberth as officiant will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida.
Arrangements are entrusted to Davis Seawinds Funeral Home of Melbourne, Florida. Online condolences may be shared at www.davisseawinds.com.
