Karen Loretta Coleman was born on January 29, 1947, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Robert and Mollie (Robertus) Coleman and passed away on April 12, 2022, in Melbourne, Florida at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 11 days.

Karen grew up in Mitchell, Nebraska. She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1965. She attended Scottsbluff Junior College and worked as a secretary for the Scotts Bluff County Welfare Department.

Karen married Calvin Joseph Corcoran on December 29, 1967 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. To this union three children were born. Karen and Cal started their lives together in Sidney, Nebraska. Cal's career took them from Sidney, Nebraska to Sheridan, Wyoming, back to Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Columbus, Nebraska, and then down to Florida in 1989 where they remained for the rest of their lives. Karen was a dedicated wife and mother and made sure her family was always her number one priority wherever life took her. Karen was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom for most of her life. When her children were older and more independent , she worked at CNCS (Corporation for National and Community Service) in Nebraska and inspected low-income homes for weatherization recommendations. In Florida she worked as a mail clerk for the United States Postal Service until she retired.

Karen enjoyed reading novels, doing arts and crafts, sewing, knitting, word puzzles and games. She collected rocking horses, stamps and coins. Her greatest joy was providing a good home life for her family. She loved spending as much time as she could with her children and grandchildren.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, husband Calvin Corcoran, brothers Bob Coleman, Russ Coleman, Richard Coleman and Jerry Coleman.

Survivors cherishing Karen's memory include her daughter Charissa (Corcoran) and husband, Rob Hofpar, Valparaiso, Nebraska, daughter Chandra Corcoran Roberts, Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, Son, Clay Corcoran and wife, Joni (Renz), Winter Haven, Florida; grandchildren, Coleman and Jacey Hofpar, Valparaiso Nebraska, Mollie Roberts, Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, Keegan and Kayden Corcoran, Winter Haven, Florida; Sister Delores (Coleman) Stirrett, Casper, Wyoming, sister Neola (Coleman) Reisig, Scottsbluff, Nebraska, sister Kathy (Coleman) Schildt, Scottsbluff, Nebraska, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of a life shared with Karen.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service on June 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, 560 Montreal Avenue, Melbourne, Florida 32935.
