Julia Helda Restrepo de Torres, 91 years old, beloved mother, aunt and friend died peacefully at home on Thursday, January 7, 2016, in Vero Beach, Florida. She was born on January 28, 1924 in Manizales, Colombia. Julia Helda was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Jose Vidal Torres Van-Arcken, two sisters, Ofir Restrepo and Margarita Naranjo de Gmez, and her parents Manuel Restrepo and Rosa Acosta de Restrepo. Julia Helda is survived by her three daughters and four grandchildren: Luz Maria (Luis Fernando) Ramrez of Vero Beach: their children, Laura Lorena (Roberto) Virgen Jr. of South Carolina, and Nicolas Ramrez of Orlando. Margarita (Jeffrey Norman, deceased) Dean of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Maria Elena (Kenneth Miles) Taggart and their children Ethan and Andrea Taggart, all of Malabar.

Julia Helda obtained a teaching degree from "Normal Nacional de Seoritas". She worked 28 years for the School Board of Caldas, and later she was the Principal of Colegio Atala de Estrada for 10 years. After retirement, Julia managed the family businesses with her husband, Vidal. She enjoyed knitting, solving crossword puzzles and reading. She is loved by everyone who had the fortune of knowing her. Julia Helda fulfilled her dream of becoming a US citizen on December 21, 2015, just a few days before her departure. She is an example of strength and knowledge. Her family and friends will always remember her as a warm and wise person.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 16 2016, at 6:00 p.m. Service will be celebrated at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2025 20th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL.

Julia Helda Restrepo de Torres de 91 aos, adorada madre, ta y amiga muri en la paz del Seor en su hogar el pasado jueves, enero 7 del 2016, en Vero Beach, Florida. Helda naci en enero 28 de 1924 en Manizales, Colombia. Le preceden en su muerte su esposo Jos Vidal Torres Van-Arcken, con el cual estuvo casada 43 aos, dos hermanas, Ofir Restrepo y Margarita Naranjo de Gmez, y sus padres Manuel Acosta y Rosa Acosta de Restrepo. Le sobreviven sus tres hijas y cuatro nietos: Luz Mara (Luis Fernando) Ramrez de Vero Beach, Florida: sus hijos, Laura Lorena (Roberto) Virgen Jr. De Carolina del Sur, y Nicol¡s Ramrez de Orlando, Florida; Margarita (Jeffrey Norman, fallecido) Dean de Salt Lake City, Utah, y Mara Elena (Kenneth Miles) Taggart y sus hijos Ethan y Andrea Taggart todos ellos de Malabar, Florida.

Julia Helda se gradu de la Normal Nacional de Seoritas, y trabaj 28 aos para el Departamento de Educacin de Caldas. Posteriormente, Helda fue rectora del Colegio Atala de Estrada por 10 aos. Despus de su jubilacin como profesora, Helda se encarg de los negocios de la familia con su esposo Jos Vidal. A Helda le gustaba mucho tejer, resolver crucigramas y leer. Helda fue muy querida por todos aquellos que tuvieron la buena fortuna de conocerla. En diciembre 21 del 2015, solo unos pocos das antes de su muerte, Helda realiz su sueo de convertirse en ciudadana americana. Ella es un ejemplo de fortaleza y sabidura. Su familia y amigos siempre la recordar¡n como una persona afectuosa e inteligente.

La ceremonia fnebre se celebrar¡ el prximo s¡bado enero 16 del 2016 a las 6:00 pm en la Iglesia de Saint Helen, 2025 20th Avenue, Vero Beach, Florida.
