Jose "Puruco" Diaz Betancourt, 88, of Suntree, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 14, 1937 in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico to the late Jose Diaz Martinez and Borinquen Betancourt Cortes . Jose earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Colegio de Mayaguez and went on to build a fulfilling career, working in his profession throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and Colombia. In 1993 he retired and settled in Riverview, Florida. Following the passing of his beloved wife Triny, he relocated to Melbourne Fl. In Melbourne, he found joy and pride serving in his daughter's family business where he took on responsibilities in security, quality control and man of all trades. He was dedicated and proud of the contributions he made there.

Jose was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Rockledge, where his spiritual family circle grew with cherished grandchildren and brothers and sisters in faith.

Jose is survived by his sons Jose Medardo, Jose Carlos and Jose Edgardo; his daughters Joanne and Debbie; and seven grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 4th from 6 to 8 pm at Seawinds Funeral Home, Melbourne. A Mass will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 5th at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rockledge. Burial will be held at Serenity Meadows, Riverview, time and date to be determined.
