It is with a sad and heavy heart that the family members of Jon F. Monroe, 85 years of age, announce his passing on October 24, 2023.  Following an 8-week period of hospitalization, Jon passed away peacefully in his sleep at Kindred Hospital in Melbourne, FL. During these weeks, Jon put up a real fight, always hoping to be able to return to his home, his wife and the life they have enjoyed for 39 years.

Jon Frederic Monroe was born in Vinita, Oklahoma to Rosemary Wise Monroe and John Fred Monroe on December 5, 1937. His early years were carefree and full of fun times with his friends and cousins. The family owned a cabin on Grand Lake which was 20 miles from their home. Summers were spent swimming, boating, water skiing, and just being a kid. He was always a good-looking guy, in fact, he was elected the best-looking boy in his senior class.

In 1956 he graduated from Miami High School in Miami, Oklahoma. He attended Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Jon served in the United States Airforce.  After the service Jon worked for Miller Brewing Company and later the United States Postal Service.

Jon married his lovely wife, Siobhan McQuaid in October 1984 in Kingwood, Texas. In 1998 they moved to Atlanta and in 2001 they settled in Melbourne, Florida. Jon declared that he never wanted to live north of Orlando. Jon and Siobhan enjoyed fishing, watching nature in their part of Florida, having lunch out with friends, and just sitting around their swimming pool.

He is survived by his wife, Siobhan McQuaid Monroe; his sister, Carolyn Macon Monroe; his son, Todd E. Monroe; and his step-father, James William Beard III.

Oh, how he will be missed.
