Melbourne
John A. Whitaker, 86, died on April 29, 2012 at the Wuesthoff Hospice Care Center in Rockledge, FL.
Mr. Whitaker is survived by his wife, Catherine; three sons, Jeffrey, Andrew, and Thomas; two daughters, Susan Moore and Rebecca DelBalzo; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. John is also survived by his two sisters Leona Partlow and Betty Brousseau.
Mr. Whitaker was an Army veteran, serving during World War II in the China Burma area. He later worked for General Motors in the DC and Maryland area. He met his wife, Catherine, at a friend's wedding, where he was the Best Man. They married in 1951, and lived in Rockville, MD until 1993 when they retired to Melbourne, FL.
The family plans to have a Celebration of Life service for John back home in Rockville, MD.
