John Taylor of Melbourne, Florida peacefully passed away in his home on December 20, 2015 after a lengthy battle of lung cancer.
After decades of experience in the retail industry, Mr. Taylor fulfilled his dream of being his own boss. He founded Automatic Rain of Brevard in 1985 and it continues as a family-owned irrigation company with his son, Jodi. Beginning with sprinkler repairs, the business remains strong after 30 years of service in Florida.
John's greatest pride was his family. He took great pleasure in spending time with his daughter, sons, and especially enjoying the laughter of his grandchildren. Being on the water was John's passion and sailing was his love. From his home on the Indian River, he delighted in all the entertainment and activities it had to offer.
John is survived by his loving sister, Mary Sue Taylor of New Port Richey, Florida. He was the cherished father of daughter, Margo Longley of West Palm Beach, Florida and sons, Stephen Taylor of Hollywood, Florida, Mark Taylor of Bedford, Texas, and Jodi Taylor of Melbourne, Florida. Grandpa Taylor was the adored grandfather of Spencer and Sarah Longley, along with Stephanie, Michelle, and Brianna Taylor. He is also survived by his ex-wife and caretaker, Madge Taylor.
Private services will be held as per John's wishes. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Florida Wildlife Hospital of Melbourne at 4560 U.S. 1, Palm Shores, Florida 32935.
