It is with much sadness that I say that John Pappalardo, age 92, previously from Newington CT now from Indialantic FL has passed away on May 7 ^th 2018 at his home in FL. He was the dearly loved and devoted partner of Susan Swann Forsdick with who he shared 29 wonderful years. He was born 5/20/25 at home in Hartford CT to the late Rosario and Carmella Pappalardo who came from Florida Sicily in 1920. He was predeceased by his older siblings Concetta, Angelo, Adelina Formica, all of Hartford.

He lived in Hartford most of his life graduating from Weaver High School in 1943. He served in the Army during World War II 1943 — 1946 overseas duty for 20 months in the South Pacific. He received the Good Conduct Metal, Victory Metal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Service Star.

John graduated from the University of Miami in 1950 being awarded Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and worked for various companies in CT as a Design Engineer. He was an avid skier, joining the MT Laurel Ski Club in 1952, skiing for over 60 years. He organized a ski trip to Europe in 1971 chartering a plane with 200 club skiers. He was elected president of the club 1956 — 1958 and honored for being active in the club for so many years, awarded a Life Time Membership. He enjoyed biking with the club on Monday nights. He was a qualified ski instructor and taught many members to ski and was on the Ski Patrol..

He owned a 30 ft sailboat named 'Strega' that he enjoyed sharing with his friends for many years. He loved the ocean where he and Susan took many wonderful cruises.

He was the life of the party with his singing voice where he always knew all the words and the tunes. He was an avid tennis player and he and Susan met at the tennis courts.

He also leaves his three nieces, Della Usher and husband Gerry of FL, Diane Panvini and her husband Vinnie of AZ, Lori Zagaja and her husband Peter of CT. As well as special friend Maggie Kelly from CT and nephew Michael Formica of PA.

He will be laid to rest with Military Honors in a private ceremony in CT at the VA Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers please donate to an Alzheimer's group of your choice.
