IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John William
"Jack" Trodden, Sr.
November 28, 1938 – February 7, 2026
John William "Jack" Trodden, Sr., age 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 7, 2026, in Rockledge, Florida. Born on November 28, 1938, in Swampscott, Massachusetts, Jack lived a full and meaningful life marked by devotion to his family, steadfast faith, and a long career defined by integrity and professionalism.
Jack graduated from Rindge Technical High School in Cambridge, MA and earned his bachelor's degree from Boston College in 1964. He proudly served in the United States Air Force Reserves from 1961 until 1967.
Jack met Maureen McKillop who worked with his sister Barbara at the FBI. The two married in 1962 and went on to share nearly 60 years together raising a family of seven children and building a home filled with love, humor and faith.
Jack spent his professional life in finance, retiring in 2000 as a vice president from State Street Bank in Quincy, Massachusetts. His professional journey also included positions at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Provident Institute of Savings, and Walston Brokerage. Throughout his career in finance, Jack was respected for his sound judgment, quiet leadership and commitment to excellence.
Following retirement, Jack and Maureen moved to the lakes region of New Hampshire and spent winters on the Space Coast in Florida. In 2009, they relocated full time to Satellite Beach and eventually settling in Melbourne, FL in 2015. Jack and Maureen both enjoyed the warmer winters in Florida and their many long time friends from MA who also settled in the area.
A lifelong Catholic, Jack was deeply involved in the parishes he attended over the years. He served as a weekly lector at St. Charles Borromeo in Woburn, MA; as a lector, minister of hospitality, and Parish Council member at St. Michael in Cranford, NJ; and as a lector and Liturgy Committee member at St Albert the Great in Weymouth, MA. In recent years, he continued to nurture his faith by regularly watching Heart of the Nation Mass from Wisconsin.
Jack's sharp wit and warm humor made him a joy to be around. He had an innate ability to make people smile and feel welcome with just a few words or a well-timed joke. An avid photographer, Jack captured countless moments of family life and travel through his lens—preserving memories that will be cherished for generations. He also had a deep appreciation for music; he enjoyed classical compositions and followed folk music artists with enthusiasm. One of his favorite pastimes was listening to Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion until its final broadcast.
Jack is survived by his loving children: John Trodden Jr (Mark LaPlante) of Melbourne, FL; Jennifer (Bruce) Ruopp of Bloomfield, NJ; Christopher (Kimberly) Trodden of Tewksbury, MA; Amy (Jamie) Jankauskas of Clark, NJ; Gary Trodden of Sanford, FL; Jeffrey Trodden of Southbridge, MA; and Andrew (Kristin) Trodden of Melbourne, FL. He also leaves behind four beloved grandchildren: Callie Jankauskas; Trevor and Tyler Trodden; and Anthony Ruopp.
He is also survived by his sister Barbara Reilly of Peabody, MA; along with many nieces and nephews who held him dear.
Jack was predeceased by his wife of nearly 60 years, Maureen (McKillop) Trodden; his parents William and Agnes Trodden; his brother Michael Trodden; sisters Judie Moran and Nancy Fisher; and his nephew Kevin Trodden.
May the memory of Jack's kindness, humor, devotion to faith, and love for family bring comfort to all who knew him.
