John William Dean
Melbourne, Florida

John William Dean, 75, departed this life on Friday, February 21, 2014 with family by his side. Born on July 6, 1938 in Youngstown, NY to James and Winifred Dean, he attended St. Pete High where he played football. John moved to Brevard County in 1975 where he worked as a Captain in the Merchant Marines. John was a member of the American Legion Post 81, Legion Riders Post 81, and the Moose Lodge.

Every year John did a lot of things in the community of which he loved to do like escort the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall and Toy Runs. Anytime there was a fund raiser event, John was there doing something whether big or small. He loved helping his community, family, and friends. He will be deeply missed.

John is survived by his daughters; Catherine Picker (John), Kelly Vella, and Amanda Kuykendoll (Brian), Brothers; Jimmy (Kathy), Rudy, Randy, Steve (Denise), Scott (Robyn), and Sister; Susan, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother & father, Brothers; Edward, and George Dean

A Celebration of John's life will take place at the American Legion Post 81 on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 6 p.m. 2909 S. Harbor City Blvd, Melbourne, FL 32901.
