Obituary

John Craig Edwards (Craig to family and friends), 62, of Melbourne, was born July 25, 1951 at Patrick AFB and died May 8, 2014 at Holmes Regional Medical Center. He received his education at Brevard Community College and the National Tropical Botanical Garden on Kauai, Hawaii. He became well known as a surfer in Florida and Hawaii.

For a number of years, Craig taught Horticulture at Brevard Community College and then moved to Bermuda where he was the production manager and horticultural instructor for Aberfeldy Nurseries Limited, the largest nursery in Bermuda. He returned to Florida and opened his business Edwards Florascapes.

Craig was known for his years of work in horticulture and his love of surfing, fishing, and hunting ducks and turkeys.

Craig was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen Edwards and father William H. Edwards. He is survived by his mother Veralynn Edwards, sister Lynn (Frank) Kilgard, brother Bruce (Chong) Edwards, loving nieces and nephews, and many friends.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 15, at 2:00 pm at Palmdale Presbyterian Church, Melbourne.
