Joanne Gates Hoffman Kollen of Palm Bay, Florida formerly of Bay Shore, NY passed away on January 20, 2016. Wife of James Kollen and survived by son Paul Hoffman Jr. and James Kollen. Daughter Amanda Kollen, Grandchildren Cheyenna, Tiffany, Alyssa, Ayla and Declan. Sister Ann Marie Cruz. Joanne was a dedicated member of St. Joseph's where she taught religious youth classes and sang in the choir. Joanne also was member of the Greater Palm Bay Senior Center and enjoyed playing many comical roles in their holiday shows. Also at the senior center she was a member of the Pretenders, chorus and arts & crafts where the ladies during Joanne's hardest months really kept her going through all that they shared with her. Joanne had a commitment to the community youth through Prevent of Brevard's multiple outreach programs. A very special time in Joanne's life was during the 9 years Joanne worked at Palm Bay High School. The children gave her such spirit and it meant so much when Joanne saw the children in the community. Joanne was full of life and spent it giving of her self to others in so many ways. Joanne had many "children". She took pride in her nieces, nephews and "other" daughter Lauren. It meant so much to her to be an active member of their lives from childhood to adulthood watching them turn into amazing, caring and dependable souls. As the very center of her family and loved by so many, Joanne will live on in our hearts, thoughts and spiritual lives. Services are Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Josephs Catholic Church, 5330 Babcock Street NE, Palm Bay, 32905. Reception to follow.
