Obituary

Titusville resident Joan Elinor Wargo Torbitone went to her Heavenly Home December 5, 2020. She is survived by her son, Robin B. Venturini (Charline) of Titusville; three grand-children, Tony J. Venturini (Michele) of Fayetteville, N.C., Brion C. Venturini (Ginger) of Lakeland, FL and Lisa Venturini Courage (Tim) of Titusville; four great-grandchildren, Anthony G. Venturini, Kristin, Rachel and Stephen Courage; her sister, Doris Wargo Gorman, of Pitman, N.J.; two nephews, David (Antionette) and Michael Gorman and their children also of Pitman.

Joan was born December 21, 1929 in Pitman, N.J. to Joseph E. and Ella Hill Wargo. She attended Pitman schools and graduated from Pitman High School, Class of 1947. In 1952, she married Albert Venturini and was later divorced. She was active in the local community which included theatre, bowling leagues, Scouting, and was known as an accomplished seamstress.

In 1965, Joan and son Robin moved to Titusville, Florida where she was employed by Southern Bell Telephone for approximately ten years. She and Robin enjoyed fishing and exploring the Indian River Lagoon. She was a supportive band parent and football booster in all of Robin's activities.

After spending several more years in New Jersey where she added the art of cake decorating to her many skills, she returned to Titusville in 1982 and married Chester (Chet) Torbitone, where they lived the remainder of their lives. Chet passed away in 1999.

Joan was also predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Ella Wargo; her brothers, Robert and Herbert Wargo; her nephew, Joseph Lee Gorman and her brother in law, Warren Gorman.

Joan, a believer in Christ, was an active member of Park Avenue Baptist Church and has taught preschool, bowled and belonged to various card groups. She also had a life-long love of reading, learning, traveling, and enjoyed cooking and baking for family, friends and anyone in need. She was an avid collector, especially of owls.

She was a shining example of excellence, dedication and unselfishness and added such spark to holidays and celebrations. This Mom and Grandmom is greatly missed.

A memorial service will be announced in the coming weeks due to family illness.
