IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan Gloria
Pfeil
December 17, 1932 – April 6, 2023
Joan Gloria Pfeil, 90, of Melbourne, FL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 6, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in St. Louis, MO on December 17, 1932 to John and Nellie Kelly. She was the only daughter of 4 children.
She married the love of her life, Charles "Chick" Pfeil on July 28, 1951 and they were married just shy of 65 years.
They owned their own concrete business in St. Louis, where Joan managed all of the financials and day to day activities of the business.
After they sold their business, they "semi-retired" to Melbourne, FL in 1981.
Joan was very active and loved to stay busy. She enjoyed spending time with her family and in her spare time she loved to read. She was also an avid golfer and thoroughly enjoyed being on the golf course. She won many tournaments and awards throughout the many years she played. There wasn't a golf course that Joan didn't like and even made sure to play a course during their "dream" vacation in Ireland.
Joan was an Executive Assistant at Harris Corporation Headquarters for several years and earned the respect of many executives during her tenure.
She was a devoted member of Ascension Catholic Church since 1981.
Joan was very sociable and loved talking to people. Anyone that met her had an instant connection with her and knew they truly found a life-long friend they could count on.
She is survived by her children: Deborah Von Talge of Melbourne, FL, Charles Pfeil, Jr. (Sue) of St. Louis, MO, Nancy Pfeil of Melbourne, FL and Steven Pfeil (Kelly) of Melbourne, FL; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Joan was loved by many and will be missed by all, but we find comfort knowing that she is reunited with the love of her life, Chick.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18 th (family 12pm, friends 12:30 - 1pm) at Ascension Catholic Church which will be followed by a Mass service. Burial will be at a later date at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
