Joan Highsmith, at the age of 84, went to her heavenly home in the early hours of July 1, 2025. Joan was born in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late John & Helen (Novak) Doud. She graduated from Holy Rosary High School and was a lifelong Catholic. She was married to her husband, Raymond H. Highsmith, for 57 years before he predeceased her on August 24, 2016. Joan enjoyed being around all family and loved any gathering of family and friends. Joan loved babies and never missed a chance to hold one. She found great joy in working with yarn, loved doing puzzles and going for rides in her later years.

Joan will be deeply missed by her 3 daughters, Laurie Sandberg, Debi Kenney (Bob), and Ann Highsmith, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and sister Dolores Ledtke (Jim). In addition to her parents and husband, Joan is preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Doud (Reba) and sister, Elaine Smith (Alfred).

The family would like to express gratitude to the staff at Joe's Club Alzheimer's Foundation in Melbourne, Florida. They were instrumental in easing this very long goodbye.

Joan will be interred at St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery in Palm Bay, Florida, at a later date. Those planning on an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to Joe's Club of Melbourne, Florida.
