IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean Shera
Butler
March 14, 1924 – November 8, 2020
Jean passed peacefully after a short illness, but remained active and vibrant until near the end. She was the daughter of John and Kathleen White Shera and married Rolland (Rolly) Butler soon after graduation from Purdue University. All told, there were 4 small Butlers from Jean and Rolly's union; Kathleen Shera Butler Treadwell (wife of N. Scot Treadwell), Rachel Ann Butler, Raymond Osmond Butler (husband of Karla Butler) and Scott John Butler. Several grandchildren and great grands continue the line. Jean's parents, husband, sister; Mary McClure and brother; Frank Shera preceded Jean in death.
Jean excelled at golf with 2 holes-in-one in her life. She was also an extraordinary seamstress from tailored garments to quilts to beautifully embroidered art and enjoyed gifting her whimsical or elegant creations. Social card games of bridge and hand & foot kept her busy between sewing projects. During her last 10 years she played spades online with her family in Charlotte, Pennsylvania and Florida while using Skype every Wednesday at 8 PM.
World travel included Asia, Europe, Africa, S. America, Australia & N. America. In 2016, Jean traveled to North Dakota to complete travel to all 50 states. A second home on a small island in the Thirty Thousand Islands of Georgian Bay near Parry Sound, Ontario Canada was a laid back retreat.
Jean was most kind and optimistic without any sharp edges. "If you cannot say anything nice, don't say anything at all."
