Janet Helen McGovern, 92, of Melbourne, Florida, died Thursday, November 11, 2021 with family by her side.
Janet was born to the late William Gardner and Florence Gardner on September 24, 1929 in White Plains, New York. She grew up in Pleasantville, New York and graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1947. She married the late Joseph Frances McGovern in July 1948 and they lived in White Plains New York before moving to Eau Gallie, FL in 1967 with their son Joseph McGovern, jr.
Janet work as a Nurse all of her life. First as a pediatric Nurse in White Plains, NY and then after relocating to Florida, at Holmes Regional Medical Center as a Head Nurse. She retired from Holmes in 1993 after 23 year of service.
Janet is survived by her son Joseph McGovern and Daughter in-law Denise McGovern of Melbourne, Grandson Michael McGovern of Colorado Springs, Granddaughter Kathleen McGovern of San Francisco, and Sister Nancy Collins of Melbourne, Florida.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 17th from 6 – 8pm at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home. A Mass will be held at 11am on Thursday, November 18th at Ascension Catholic Church, Melbourne, FL with burial immediately following at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, FL.
