Obituary

James (Jimmy) Ledford Troutt, Jr., 88, of Nickelsville, VA, passed Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at a local Florida nursing and rehabilitation center following a brief illness.
James (Jimmy) was born in Nickelsville, VA, on January 10, 1929. He served more than twenty years in military service in the Occupation Forces in Japan and in Korea, Turkey, and Viet Nam. After retiring from the military, he lived in the Elmira/Watkins Glen/Corning, New York- area for a number of years. Afterward, he moved to Florida where he settled and happily lived out his years.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Ledford Troutt, Sr., his mother, Amanda Jane (Janie) Redwine and his brother, Roland Troutt.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Axtell-Troutt, former wife Ruth Dinsmore and husband George, two children; Janet Fuessel and husband David, David Troutt and Audrey Troutt; five grandchildren; Scott, Tonya and Brett Troutt and Nathan and Bridget Fuessel, ten greatgrandchildren; Hunter Preset and Britany, Kelsey, Nicholas, Bella, Sean, Kayla, Amber, Alex and Levi Troutt, and three great-great grandchildren; Adalynn Preset, Mason and Jaxon Goins, and several nieces and nephews as well as many dear friends.
He was very proud to have served his country in the military as well as to have been from amongst the few who can claim having come from Nickelsville, VA. He loved to joke about it, but it played a big part in who he was. He enjoyed meeting people, joking and being silly with them, telling stories and singing silly songs, which he said was "mostly for my own entertainment."
He will be missed.
