James (Jim) passed away peacefully on July 13, 2018 in Melbourne FL with his family by his side.

He was born to the late Michael Putira and Mary Stash Putira on March 12, 1941 in Kingston PA.  Jim graduated from Kingston High School, with an A. A. from Manchester Community College and with a B. A. from Eastern Connecticut State University.  Jim married the late Rosemary Putira in 1961 and celebrated their 50th anniversary prior to her passing in 2011.  Jim lived in Connecticut for 43 years and Pennsylvania for 23 years.  Jim was a resident of Indialantic FL for the past 11 years.

Jim had a distinguished career of over 40 years at Pratt & Whitney starting as a Tool & Die apprentice and concluding as a senior leader, trainer and mentor.  Jim came out of retirement five times as he enjoyed mentoring young leaders.  He concluded his career at Leonardo DRS.

Jim was an active member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Indialantic FL and the Wickham Park Senior Center.  He enjoyed spending time with Midnight, his family, traveling, playing cards and bowling.

Jim is survived by his children James Putira of Indialantic; Theresa Putira Ham of Melbourne; Gregory and Donna Putira of Indialantic.  Jim is also survived by six grandchildren (Sean Putira, Lindsay Ham, Jared Ham, Jennifer Simmons, Allison Putira and Robin Putira) and two great-grandchildren (Larrell Simmons and Hazel Simmons).  Jim is survived by his brother Frank Putira of Manchester CT.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday July 26 ^th at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to St. Jude Children's hospital or the American Cancer Society.
