James (Jim) L. Pinkerton passed away peacefully at his home in Melbourne, FL on August 16, 2024.
Jim was born on February 26, 1932, in Freedom, PA to Loyd and Orpha Pinkerton. Jim attended Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg, WV his freshman year and then went on to Bowling Green State University in Ohio where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. While attending Bowling Green, he joined ROTC, and upon graduation was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. He then served overseas in the Army starting in 1954 as a forward observer and military prosecutor. He was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant in 1956.
In 1958, Jim married the love of his life Nancy (Nevin) Pinkerton. They lived in several locations throughout the country before settling in Ridgefield, CT in 1972. Jim's successful business career culminated in his role as Vice President of Sales and General Manager at Chase Packaging Corporation.
Jim was a devoted husband and father. He loved watching his children's activities and coached several teams. He enjoyed gardening and playing golf and had two holes in one. Jim was a proud "Dats" to his seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In 1996, Jim and Nancy relocated to Melbourne, FL where they built a beautiful home on a golf course. Jim and Nancy were very active members of Trinity Wellsprings Church in Satellite Beach, FL. They hosted a 'Life Group' studying the bible for over 18 years and visiting hospitals and rehabilitation centers to provide support and communion.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, and his three children Lori Pinkerton-Rolet of Great Britain, Steven Pinkerton (Barbara) of MA and Scott Pinkerton (Tara) of FL. and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
