James (Jim) Edward Hendren, 89, of Melbourne, FL was in the care of VITAS Hospice before leaving this life to be with our Lord on September, 5, 2021. Jim was born in Rochester, NY and married his high school sweetheart, Maggie (Margaret VanOrden). Jim was a veteran of the USAF at Davis-Monaghan/SAC. Together they raised their family of 5 children, worked together and moved to Melbourne, FL in 1981. Not quite ready for full retirement, they opened Hometown Expressions , an antique store in downtown Melbourne. Besides his interest in refinishing antiques, Jim also enjoyed sailing, traveling, and playing golf with his wife.
Jim is predeceased by his wife, Maggie, sons, James and Rexal Hendren, his parents, Rexal E. Hendren and Clora (Russell) Hendren and sister, Betty Dill. Jim leaves behind his beloved sister, Barbara Scott of Fairport, NY, and is survived by his daughter Deborah Wilson (Rich Wilson) of Satellite Beach, FL, son, David J. Hendren of Rochester, NY, and daughter, Kathy Thompson of Melbourne, FL, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. His beloved cat, Toby, has been adopted by a new loving family at his residence at Century Oaks, Melbourne.
A memorial service is being planned for the future. Our family wishes to extend a heartfelt gratitude to all involved in the devoted care of our beloved father at Century Oaks of Melbourne and VITAS of Rockledge.
