Ian M. Falconer, 78 passed away on December 3, 2015. He is survived by his wife Joan, three children: Eric, Wendy and Amy, her husband, Tim Small, and their two daughters: Skylar and Sara; Ian's fraternal twin brother, Alistair, (Sue) Falconer, nephew Keith and niece, Alison, and their children.

Ian grew up in Queens, New York City and received his BBA and his masters in Taxation at City College (University) of New York.

Ian was a CPA by profession. He worked for Ernst and Young as a Principal, was Vice President Corporate Controller of Champion International (now International Paper) and President of Westbrook Technologies. After retiring, Ian continued to volunteer as Treasurer for Hospice of Connecticut and then became their CFO to assist with the merger of the Fairfield County branch of Hospice with Stamford Hospital.

Ian was a volunteer and served on many boards from the time he was a young Boy Scout up until he died volunteering for his church, Eastminster Presbyterian. He was also active in civic affairs. When he was younger he worked on a number of political campaigns. In the 80's he was elected to the Representative Town Meeting of Darien, CT serving as a representative to the Board of Education and to the Darien Library. Ian was Treasurer for all of his children's sport and youth organizations and the National Treasurer for Young Life.

Ian coached all three of his children's soccer teams and for eight years he read to a second grade class at Krista McAuliffe Elementary School.

Ian was always very active throughout his church life from when he was President of Westminster Fellowship to being elected an elder at three Presbyterian Churches. He enjoyed being in Christian study groups and classes and taught them in the church. In addition, Ian was a Stephen Minister/ Leader at Eastminster Presbyterian Church and he visited at Holmes Regional Hospital on Fridays for many years on behalf of the Church.

As a member of the Seventh Regiment of the National Guard in New York, Ian served for eight years and was honorably discharged as Platoon Sergeant. He was very proud to have served in the honor guard for Queen Elizabeth's first visit to the United States.

Ian thoroughly enjoyed playing golf and bridge and enjoyed the company of all with whom he played.

On August 2, 2015 Ian and Joan celebrated their 55 years of marriage (June 11, 1960) at a beautiful ceremony held during the Sunday church service at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. It was the last time Ian's whole family was together. God truly blessed us that day.

With a strong faith in and trust in Jesus Christ, Ian loved his family, his country, and above all, his God.

A memorial service will be held on January 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, a donation made to Eastminster Presbyterian Church's General Fund would be greatly appreciated.
