Henry "Hugh" Futch

Henry H. "Hugh" Futch passed away on August 4, 2012 in Merritt Island, FL. He was born August 8, 1923 in Glenville, GA to Elmer Walter and Zuma Etta (Thigpen) Futch, who were married October 4, 1919.

They had five children in GA; Lillian, Vivian, Henry, Fred and Elmer Jr. After moving to Miami, FL in 1928 they had six more children- Marian, Jean, Esther and Carolyn, James and Carl- eleven children in all. Zuma died at the age of 49 on Sept 18, 1952 from a cerebral hemorrhage.

Henry took a job with Eastern Airlines in 1940 while still in High School. In 1942 the war was going on, so Henry enlisted in the Army Air Corps at the age of 19. He was a pilot and airplane mechanic. He returned from the war in 1945. In 1949, Henry helped build a church in Hialeah, FL. Henry married Grace Ensey in 1952 and they had one son, Glenn Hugh Futch in 1962. Henry worked 40 years for Eastern Airlines and retired at the age of 55 in 1980. He moved with Grace his wife to Merritt Island in 1981 where he resided until his death.

Hugh Henry is survived by his sisters: Jean, Esther and Carolyn, his brothers Jimmy and Carl and his son Glenn Futch. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Ensey Futch in 1987.

A graveside service in Henry's honor will be held Monday, August 13, 2012 at 11 A.M. at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Florida.
