Harriet A. Small, 94, left this earthly life to begin eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 in West Chester, PA, at the home of her son and family with whom she resided. Born in Redruth, Cornwall, England on April 27, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Harriet Polkinghorn-Carpenter. At the age of 3, she migrated to America with her parents and was raised in Muskegon, Michigan. She married Gordon M. Small on November 7, 1942 and they retired to Melbourne, Florida. Harriet was a lifelong homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Melbourne, Florida. Harriet is survived by her son, David (Barbara); two daughters, Deborah (David) Schaefer of Montague, Michigan and Miriam (Floyd) Wolcott of Sparta, Michigan; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; sister, Muriel Figge; one great-grandchild and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home in Melbourne on Tuesday, September 17 with visitation at 2:00p.m. and the service at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
