Harold (Bobby) E. Roberts, Jr., of Melbourne, passed away on September 5, 2018 at his home, surrounded by family.

He was born on January 16, 1931 at Melbourne's first hospital, which still stands on East River Dr. and US1. His paternal family moved from Kansas to Melbourne in 1912. During WWII, he pedaled his bicycle on the streets of old Melbourne, delivering newspapers, telegrams and special deliveries. His childhood fascination of airplanes led him to join the Air Force at 17 and serve during the Korean War. He then began a 40-year career, first as an A&P mechanic and technical writer for Pan American Airways, and later as an Engineer at KSC, developing technical maintenance procedures for the Space Shuttle. He always said of his career that he "got a big juicy bite right out of the middle."

At home, Harold was an avid handyman and completed extensive remodeling and home/garage construction - his "projects." Blessed with a high I.Q., he also enjoyed solving puzzles, particularly "Anacrostics."

But the centerpiece of his life was his duty to his family, for whom he was a generous and admirable role model – one with a dry sense of humor and the ability to see humor in everyday life.  Two of his favorite expressions were, "Everything is relative; and It takes all kinds to make the world go 'round.'"  And now, with the passing of this most unique and irreplaceable character, the world seems slightly off its axis.

Harold was predeceased by his father Harold Sr,; mothers Helen Duncan and Marguerite Ellis Roberts; beloved brother Perry and sisters Janet and Wanda. His is survived by his wife of 63 years Marilyn Yeager Roberts; sons Ray (Shirley) and Keith; daughters Becky and Sandy (Shahram); eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother Clark and sisters Cory, Patty and Kathy.
