Glenna Lynn Holmes passed away peacefully on May 12, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. Glenna was born in Spokane, Washington on December 9, 1944, to Forrest and Beulah Bell. She was the youngest of 11children and was predeceased in death by 7 siblings. Glenna is survived by 3 loving sisters: Yvonne Walker of Addison, Alabama and Frances Wilson and Sharon Fields of Spokane, Washington. Glenna leaves behind 3 wonderful sons: Dru Holmes of Melbourne, Michael Holmes of Palm Bay, and Bryan Holmes (Cathy) of Frederick, Colorado. She was proud of her 7 grandchildren: Dylan Holmes (HI), Austin Sigman (FL), Jacob Baird (FL), Haley Sigman (FL), Carson, Cody, and Kaelyn Holmes (CO). She was Auntie Glenna to many loving nieces and nephews.

Glenna married Myron "Bud" Holmes in 1965 and began a world-wide adventure with Bud who was enlisted in the Air Force. Among the many places they lived were Germany, New Mexico, Japan, Texas, and North Dakota. Bud's last station was Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, where he retired after 26 honorable years of dedicated military service to his country. Glenna then continued her long career as military clothing sales manager for the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AFFES) at Patrick. In this capacity she was able to serve and help a great number of our military members. She was known for going the extra mile and the military men and women truly appreciated her and no doubt remember her with fond memories. Glenna retired after 20 years of providing not only clothing, but tremendous moral support and love for our Air Force troops. Glenna worked several years for a computer technology company in Melbourne building circuit boards. Already an active member of the Manatee Cove Marina at Patrick, she was hired as a bartender in 2001. She was very proud to have contributed to the building of the Tiki Bar at the Marina, and served on several committees associated with Marina activities.

Glenna loved boating, particularly sailing, and was an enthusiastic mate on anyone's boat. She participated in many sailboat races and was happy-win or lose. Glenna was a true patriot and fierce defender of our armed forces members. She was involved with the local VFW, disabled veterans groups, and the various charities sponsored under the auspices of Wounded Warriors at the Marina. One of the highlights of her life was a recent outing with Space Coast Honor Flight when she served as a guardian escort to a "ninety-something" woman veteran on a one-day whirlwind trip to visit the war memorials in Washington, D.C.

Glenna was a life member of the United States Humane Society and loved all animals; she was particularly passionate about cats. She leaves behind 5 four-legged friends: Dude, Katy, Sadie, Sukee, and Shy, and her faithful dog, Gusto. Glenna's love and compassion touched people around the world, including hundreds of friends and "family members" at the Tiki Bar. Glenna has served her last drink and is now on the "fun side" of the bar.

Glenna asked for family and friends to honor her memory with a contribution to a local "no-kill" shelter for animals. The Central Brevard Humane Society is dedicated to "speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves" and is located at 1020 Cox Road, Cocoa, Florida, 32926.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Wuesthoff Hospice in Rockledge, Florida for their tremendous compassion and care. Glenna has sailed through the rough seas and has now made it to calmer waters.
