IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Glenn Ronald
Cox
September 12, 1936 – August 18, 2023
Glenn Ronald (Ron) Cox, 86, of Melbourne, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 18 2023, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born in Monroe, LA on September 12, 1936 to John and Anita Cox. He was a very proud veteran that served in the Air Force from 1956 - 1960.
After he got out of the service, he moved to Evergreen, AL and became a Disc Jockey and was known as "Rockin Ron Robbins." It was on a day in 1960 when he was introduced to a young lady, Willodean (Willa) Hyde, that would become the love of his life. They married on May 30, 1961. They had a wonderful marriage for 60 years and he took very good care of her until she passed away in July 2021.
After his job took them to New Mexico and Texas, he took a job offer for Harris Semiconductor and they moved to Palm Bay, FL in 1970.
He worked for Harris Semiconductor for 35 years until he decided it was time to retire. After a couple years, he came out of retirement and took a job as a security guard major at Harris Corporate Headquarters.
He was a member of First Christian Church of Melbourne, FL. During the time he was an active member, he served as an elder and participated in many church events and with his voice, everyone loved to hear him do church readings and voice overs. There was even a brief time when he participated in the handbell choir (as a favor to his daughter).
He is survived by his children: Chris (Susan) Cox of Ft. Piece, FL, Kelly (Steve) Pfeil of Melbourne, FL, his brother, Scott (Joann) Cox of Mobile, AL, grandchildren, Megan Davis of Melbourne, FL, Kathleen (Samuel) Chodur of Melbourne, FL, and Zachary Pfeil, of St. Petersburg, FL., and a great-granddaughter Emma.
We find comfort knowing that he is now reunited with his wife as well as other family and friends that preceded him.
Service with military honors and burial will take place at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or the William Childs Hospice House.
