Gilbert Leroyce (Leroy) Wilmoth Sr., 85, of Melbourne, Florida, went to be with the Lord on October 5, 2016 with his family by his side.

Leroy was born in Dobson, North Carolina on March 3, 1931 to Joseph Robert And Dell Melissa Martin Wilmoth. He married Clara Belle Dunbar on June 4, 1951 and they had 65 wonderful years together.

Leroy proudly served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.

Leroy and Clara moved to Melbourne in 1967 and they ran Leroy's Automotive and Transmission Shop for more than 30 years. In addition to running a successful business, Leroy was an avid fisherman and was never without a boat or a fishing pole. Since his retirement 25 years ago, Leroy enjoyed spending time with his family and meeting his fishing buddies at Lake Washington every morning to talk, feed the squirrels and go fishing. He and his friends loved spending time together there, sharing stories, jokes and memories. In addition to his wife, Clara, Leroy is survived by his daughter Teresa (Max) Christopher of Melbourne. He was preceded in death by daughters Angel Belle Wilmoth and Deborah Ann Cates; and a son Gilbert Leroyce Wilmoth, Jr. He is also survived by three grandchildren Valeri Belle (Paul) Ouimette of Melbourne; Douglas Lee Cates of Melbourne; and Deborah Ann (Tim) Gentry of Bremerton, WA. He is also survived by one sister, Phillis Ann Wilmoth of Thomasville, NC; a brother Tommy Joe (Jean) Wilmoth of Archdale, NC; and late brother Ralph Wilmoth.

A Celebration of Life is being planned and will be held at Lake Washington at a date to be determined.
