George W. Vicars, 74, graciously entered into the open arms of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 31, 2014. He was born to the late Oscar and Celia Blackburn-Vicars on June 29, 1940 in Weeksbury, KY. He honorably served our great nation in U.S. Army and attended Caney College, Pippa Passes, KY and later furthered his studies at Capital College, Bexley, OH earning a B.A. in education. George retired from the Army Reserves after 20 years of commitment and was also proud to be a machinist for the Oil Industry. In his leisure, he enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, getting friends and family together for cookouts and campfires. George always appreciated putting smiles of faces. He will be remembered by many for his sense of humor; he never turned down the opportunity to tell a joke that was good or bad. We will miss George dearly, until we meet again. George leaves many memories to be cherished by his wife of 49 years, Sheila; children, Cheryl Skiles (Mike), James Patten and Dennis Patten (Debra); 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 godson. Family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 4th at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home in Melbourne with a Celebration on George's Life to follow at 11:30 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory, 560 Montreal Ave., Melbourne, FL.
