George Anastos, born on August 3, 1943, in Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at his home in Palm Bay, Florida, on December 11, 2024, surrounded by family. He was 81 years old.

George was a devoted husband to Diana Anastos, with whom he shared 41 wonderful years of marriage. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Robin Phemister, and her husband, Marc; his grandsons, Darren Turilli (Jena) of Saugus, MA and Abdul Sarki (Erin) of Palm Bay, FL; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Jaxon Turilli and twins Araoluwa (Ara) and Adeola (Adi) Sarki.  George is also survived by his sister, Jodi Anastos, of Gloucester, MA; his in-laws Lisa and Jim Hodgins of Melbourne, FL, Michael and June Dunne of Melbourne, FL, and Barbara Dunne of Ray City, GA; as well as many cousins, niees, nephews, great nieces and great nephews from Florida to Connecticut to Maine and California. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest D. Anastos and Clara Paris Anastos, brothers James E. Anastos, John Charles Anastos and his in-laws Thomas Joseph Dunne and Elizabeth (Betty) Dunne.

George graduated from Lowell High School and attended college at Lowell State College and Boston State.  He built a successful career as a food broker, a profession he pursued throughout most of his adult life. Known for his sharp wit and extensive knowledge of history, literature, music, entertainment, and politics.  He was a captivating conversationalist who delighted in sharing stories and trivia. A natural entertainer with a warm spirit, George made everyone feel welcome in his presence.

An avid golfer, George took great pride in teaching his grandson Darren to play the game at just three years old. His love for golf was matched only by the joy he found in spending time with family and friends.

George honorably served his country in the National Guard, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant before receiving an honorable discharge.

After a brief illness, George's life came to a peaceful close. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.

His final interment will be held at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery with full military honors on Monday, March 17, 2025 at 11:30am.
