Gary R. Wantland, born August 17, 1943, in Flint, Michigan passed away on August 12, 2024. He was the son of Harold and Lena Wantland.

Gary worked 34 years for General Motors Service Parts (SPO) in Quality Control. He also was an elected representative for the UAW. He was known by many as Mr. Fix It Man as he was always tinkering and fixing something. In addition to building his own house in 1981, he enjoyed restoring cars and gardening. He also served many years as Cub Scout Master and was an active Lions Club member.

He will be remembered for his good sense of humor, kindness, his caring heart, and for always lending a helping hand to those in need.

Gary is survived by his wife of 53 years, Karen Wantland; his daughter Candy (Douglas) Hollander, son Jay (Teresa) Wantland, 3 grandsons, and 3 great-grandsons; 2 sisters Lavonne Kolderman and Pamela Reske; and brother Kenneth Wantland.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the near future. Memorial donations can be made to The Lions Club.
