Frederick L. Karstens, Jr., 76 passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013 in Melbourne, FL. Born on July 16, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the child of late Frederick and Veronica McDermott-Karstens. Fred served in the US Army and in 1969 he became a resident of Brevard County. He retired from retail management. Fred had many hobbies some of which were, raising horses, fishing, writing short stories and watching baseball. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Christine; son, Frederick III and his wife, Melanie; grandson, Tyler; beloved pup, Sparky; and many close friends, whom he considered family. Fred was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Karstens. Family will celebrate his life privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Frederick to a Cancer Research Foundation of your choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Davis - Seawinds Funeral Home, Melbourne, FL.
