Fred Maynard Morton, 90, of Melbourne, died Sunday, January 16, 2022 with his daughter by his side.

He was born to the late Walter Hayden and Sarah Dorsey Morton on June 15, 1931 in Rand, WV, the youngest of 10 children. After graduating from DuPont High School he joined the Marines and was in battle & injured in Korea. He worked his whole career as a glass cutter for Libby Owens Ford in Charleston & later in California where he retired. After retirement he and his beloved wife, Martha, moved to Melbourne Florida. He was a lifelong member of the Charleston, WV Elks Lodge. He was an avid golfer. He coached Little League in Charleston for many years. He was a Yankees fan & a walking baseball encyclopedia.

Fred is survived by his precious wife, Martha Morton. He was a proud father to Steve Morton, Gary Morton (deceased), and Lynn Morton Raymond, two stepsons, Todd Handley & Scott Handley. He left behind 6 beautiful grandchildren, Lori Jones, Brandon Lambert, Marissa Jones, Ben Morton, Kelly Morton Reed & Candace Fowler, and 6 great grandchildren. He was a friend to many and will be missed.
