Obituary

Franklin D. Smith 87 of West Melbourne passed away peacefully May 6, 2021 surrounded by family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years Ruby.

Frank was a resident of West Melbourne for over 57 years. In his early days he was active in the Greater West Melbourne Athletic Association as a coach, a referee and board member. He also served two terms on the Brevard County Parks and Recreation Board.

Frank was drafted into the army after graduation from Winter Haven High School. After boot camp he and Ruby married so they could start their life together.  Upon being discharged they relocated back to Brevard County where he worked at Patrick Air Force Base and then eventually was employed at NASA for 30 years.

After his retirement Ruby and he built a log cabin in Andrews NC where over the last 37 years they made lasting memories with family and friends.

Frank is also survived by his children Pamela Klenck, Steven Smith (Sandy). Grand children Jennifer Allen (Jeff), Emilee Smith, Conner Smith and Great Grand -children Kaleb Ratliff, and Kinlee Allen,

As per his request there will be a private service at a later date.

Frank, Frankie, or Papa Frank as he was lovingly known will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in memory of him to the American Red Cross, Second Harvest Food Bank or any charity of your choice.
